Newport is one of the "larger" towns along the Oregon Coast with a population of about 10,000 in 2012.
While most of the commercial area hugs highway 101 that passes straight through town, the more interesting colorful areas
are found in Old Town along Yaquina Bay and Nye Beach on the Pacific Ocean which has a history as a beach resort.
Both of these areas have seen an input of money and creativity in the last few years aimed at tourism.
Both areas have lots of restaurants, gift shops, and art galleries...
